Pancreatic Cancer has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers, with a five-year survival rate of only 11%. The survival rate after 10 years is currently less than 2%. This is largely in part to limited screening and late diagnosis.
A study conducted by The Pancreas Center at Columbia University Medical Center in New York found that approximately 10% of pancreatic cancers seen in their facility were associated with breast and ovarian cancer syndromes caused by BRCA 1 and 2 mutations. Rilassati Women’s Retreats is dedicated to supporting genetic testing, along with other early screening alternatives for women with heightened hereditary connections.
Our pancreatic cancer initiative launches in 2024 and will complete the triad of initiatives served by Rilassati Women’s Retreats. We are in the process of partnering with a well-known national entity to premiere our Purple Reign & Champagne, Purple Pump Fashion Gala to benefit diagnostic, treatment and support of patients and families impacted by pancreatic cancer.
Our Day of Purple will begin with an amazing Purple Stroll whereby walkers may stroll for a cure! Come out with the family, your friends and even your organizations to celebrate strides as we stroll toward a cure! Enjoy education, awareness, celebration and an ending with an amazing stroll contest!
The grand finale to our Day of Purple will be our Purple Reign and Champagne-A Purple Pumps Fashion Gala! Come out to view and support amazing local boutiques, stores and designers as they show off on the runway! Delight in a delectable meal, enjoy signature champagne and tap your feet to live entertainment as you support a future without pancreatic cancer!
This initiative will also host a Purple Pancakes and PJ’s Breakfast and a Lavender Legs and Lemonade fundraiser at dates to be announced!
